Summer 2023, I worked as a camp counselor. I spent two months at Camp in Maine. I lived in a bunk with eleven 9-year-olds and three other counselors. This all girls camo was founded in the 1920s. It still has its original structures and no electricity in the bunks. That summer, I turned 20, was the tooth fairy or the first time, braided lots of hair, treated six girls for lice, shooed a bat out of the bunk at 4 am, and helped girls make their first magical dark room prints. It was haunting and beautiful to take part in the traditions of this hundred year old camp.
